Most people when they hear the word Lectionary don't have a clue what it means. If you have ever spoken with someone who attends a church different from yours on a given Sunday morning, and you tell them what your pastor's sermon was about and the Scripture he/she used, you probably heard it was the same thing they heard in their church that morning. More DescriptionMost people when they hear the word Lectionary don't have a clue what it means. If you have ever spoken with someone who attends a church different from yours on a given Sunday morning, and you tell them what your pastor's sermon was about and the Scripture he/she used, you probably heard it was the same thing they heard in their church that morning. Well, it's no coincidence. If you happen to attend a liturgical church, a church whose order of public worship is prayer, thanksgiving, preaching and teaching that follow the Revised Common Lectionary, you will know from this book that it's a three-year cycle collection of readings, or selections, from the Bible for use in Protestant Christian worship.I have prepared this as the first in a three-volume set of books that will show how the three-year cycle is utilized by both the written and spoken word identified by color. So, put this book on your phone or tablet. Take it with you as a reference. And here's what you will learn in this book.● The liturgical year is designated by five colors. ● Colors which distinguish liturgical seasons became a common practice in the Western church in about the 4th century. ● The Church year consists of six liturgical seasons● Each Sunday has a Scripture reference from which the sermon may be selected. ● The lessons in this book are color coded, and do not correspond with your current calendar. That should not prevent you from using these lessons for your daily devotions and inspiration. ● You can use these lessons to take you deeper into your personal Bible study. ● A sermon should never be a one-time experience. ● You should be able to hear a sermon over and over, until you get it! That's why this book should helpful to you. ● Perhaps you could use each lesson as a guide for a weekly Bible study group, as some have. This was my goal in bringing you these thoughts. I have not used footnotes. I do not use them in my spoken sermons. And the punctuation is not always proper, as I use commas to help me in my spoken delivery. And I have italicized word for emphasis. So, this book should be an easy to read to help you better understand what composes the order of worship in a church, why there are different colors on the altar and how the passages from the Bible are selected. But most of all, it will help you to grow in your faith! This is the first volume. You can put it on your Kindle app and read it on your pc, tablet, iPhone or Android. The second volume will be coming early in 2020.What people are saying about this book:● "In the past 12 years of Pastor Bob's ministry here at Everglades Community Church his sermons seem to make God's Word grow more endearing to me. These sermons have really been a life-changing experience for me in understanding God's written Word." - Helen Bryan, Chokoloskee, Florida ● "Since the beginning of our website, I've been privileged to receive every sermon in written form. Early on, I began to use these sermons as a focus and starting point for my weekly Bible studies. I've tried to focus on the part(s) of the sermon that apply directly to me in my walk with the Lord." - Dave Gates, Sidney, Ohio and Chokoloskee, Florida● "It was an honor to lead a Tuesday night discussion group following each Sunday sermon. The discussion led itself, because the sermons are so well organized and chock full of poignant scriptural references. I feel blessed to have been allowed to immerse in God's Word and be directed by very deep and meaningful sermons." - Jim Miles, Irmo, South Carolina
