More Description
Texas Hot brings the two principal characters of The Beast in the Woods, Powder MacKenna and Beau Beaudytch, together as Powder bakes face down in a Texas cactus patch and staring at a pair of nonsense talking boots. The boots belong to Beau who has been sent to meet the newly-hired oil rig foreman by Beau's boss, and former commanding officer in the Marines, Rolphus Augustus Branton. Between the three ex-Marines derricks are raised, oil drilled for, and gushers tamed.
As Powder establishes his leadership with the rig crew he learns of Branton's nemesis, one Greer Baderson, owner of GreSon Oil Corporation, who freely admits everything and everyone in Sutton County, Texas is, or should be, his-- Including Branton's oil leases.
The countryside and the people in it begin to experience various disasters all created by Baderson to gain control of the oil leases available in Sutton County. Sheep are poisoned, lease owners financially persecuted, properties burned or otherwise destroyed, and large quantities of oil transported to the nearest rail point disappear. With Powder's help Branton discovers another criminal activity involving Greson Oil, as illegal booze and young Mexican women are kidnapped from south of the border to be transported to the gangs in Chicago. The operation is undercover at the request of the American government and the newly formed U.S. Bureau of Investigation.
Baderson and his men plot to remove their problems from Texas permanently, which revolves around an ancient Indian natural cave and MacKenna's newfound love, Samantha Wollcott, Branton's niece.
