The automatic assumption is that everyone that visits is one of those notorious Thailand sex tourists. Anyone that believes that is a fool, Thailand draws millions of young people in every year and the market in Thailand travel guides is booming. Young guys dating Thai's of their own age group can find themselves in legal jeopardy. The first chapter explains why.
The best of the Thai guides are packed full of useful information. The problem is that they don't cover Thailand living very well, and issues such as retirement to Thailand. Being a backpacker or a tourist is totally different from settling in the Kingdom.
What isn't different though is the daily danger of motorcycling. Many people get on a motorbike for the first time in their lives in Thailand, and I pass some useful advice for the total novice based upon painful experience. There are more dangers than merely renting though, in the book I point out a link between the motorcycle rental shops and the Malaysian jet that disappeared.
