More DescriptionAt 16-years-old Isabella loses the love of her life when her boyfriend, Jack, and his family move away. Because she feels she has to accept what happened, she begins to date others. But, when it doesn't work out, she tries to just keep busy. She goes for a walk one morning to collect wildflowers to make a center piece for their dining room table. When she cuts her foot on an old can, she sits down on a huge flat rock near the pond to wash and clean her foot. However, when she looks into the water, she sees the reflection of two people standing behind her. Before she can manage to get to her feet, something hits her in the back of the head and she loses consciousness. Then, Charley and Dwayne Gibbs put her into the back of their truck and take her over a hundred miles away. Time passes and everyone assumes that she is dead.
However, Isabella is very much alive. She is shackled and chained. She lives where there is no plumbing, electricity, or running water. She has no idea where she was taken.
She learns very quickly to do what she is told or she will pay the consequences. Then, her innocent child is born. She knows that she has nowhere to run even if she had the chance. She will never leave her daughter, Ellie, behind no matter what she has to endure.
