But when a desperate attempt to uncover the secret of her abilities results in disaster, the manipulative Lord De La Warr arrested Lady Seramis on charges of witchcraft, and forced her to spy on England's enemies in both the Old and New World. De La Warr already had in his employ an assassin that will become Lady Seramis's greatest nemesis. Fueled by his jealousy and a warped sense of destiny bestowed by mysterious beings who use him for their own purposes, the spy adopted the self-styled title, Father Time, and set in motion a plot that would devastate the entire planet in its wake.
