SYNOPSIS:Thinker the bear cub is infuriated by the mad scientist who has plotted to destroy the animals of the forest. He finds that Smoggishville Laboratory is buying up the town for extensive research on animals and they are in league with various town affiliations. He finds hope along his journey after leaving his owner at the zoo in the company of a frog and turtle. After being confronted with the harsh realities of the Smoggishville Laboratories, Thinker and his friends’ device a plan to help his animal friends escape the grasps of the scientist. They escape the pet shops, butcher shops, taxidermists, zoo and lastly, the Smoggishville Laboratories. During his adventures, Thinker addresses his disgust for littering and the disregard for nature’s resources while connecting to new friends. It is the dream of the forest creatures to find the legendary Enchanted Forest where it is unpolluted and safe from hunters and poachers. The story takes an interesting and final turn when nature unveils its displeasure for constant disregard of its ecological balance. Thinker and his friends are surrounded; however, the earth fights back, turning all disregarding invaders of the Enchanted Forest into part of its beautiful landscape. “The Animals Next Door” tells of the mayhem that Thinker the Bear Cub and his friends will go through to escape their captures (mainly the mad scientist) while fleeing to the Enchanted Forest. Living in today’s society, we are forced to face growing ecological concerns. We note that everything is in relationship to something. Just as the sky is to the clouds and the trees are to the earth, life yields a delicate balance. The earth supports and sustains all living things. Living in harmony with nature and each other is an important key factor, while respecting our natural resources. “The Animals Next Door” is written with this concern in mind and gives a voice to these living creatures, known as our “neighbors.”
