The Architect: Finding Peace is a redemptive love story and the first book in The Architect series.  The story follows two people, Matthew and Laura, who have both suffered and find their paths thrown together.

Matthew Branch is a highly successful owner of an architecture firm in Houston.  On the surface his life is perfect.  He's handsome, successful, and wealthy.  He's also a criminal hiding in plain site.  Matthew is an architect but not for his firm.  He designs crimes for anyone able to pay his fee and they're never disappointed.  

None of that matters when his mother dies.  Unlike in his business, there's nothing he can do to stop it and his life begins to unravel as soon as he loses her.  Before she dies, Mae Branch makes her son promise that he will look for Jesus.  She also recruits her nurse Nancy, a woman who loves the Lord, to force Matthew to attend church with her family.  

Before Matthew can run away from his promise to his mother, he comes face to face with the beautiful Laura Covington.  Laura is the widow of a navy man and is clinging to the Lord to overcome her grief.  She's intrigued by Matthew but mostly afraid and uncomfortable with how he makes her feel.  Matthew strains against her pull but can't resist his desire to pursue Laura.  And as he draws closer to her, he finds he can't deny the truth about God's providence and faithfulness.
