Jan Andrews was born in Sussex, England in 1942. She immigrated to Canada in her 20s. She studied at the University of Reading and the University of Saskatchewan. She became a storyteller and children/young adult author. Her first picture book, Very Last First Time, was published in 1985. Her other books included Keri, The Auction, When Apples Grew Noses, and Winter in Peril. She also collected folklore stories from around the world and released them in two collections entitled Stories at the Door and Rude Stories. She died after falling down a flight of stairs earlier in the week on September 2, 2017 at the age of 75.
