More DescriptionThis story takes place at a time when animals and humans are gaining the ability to communicate directly with each other. Their mode of speech becomes known as "the language." This story is centered on how these changes affect a group of cats, dogs, humans and a sharp-tongued possum. In the story, you will meet amazing, otherworldly beings, bent on helping or hurting the world as it changes. The world is confronted with an evolutionary change to its thinking: "The Awakening." Some humans welcome this change. Some are bitterly opposed. This is the story of that struggle. Battle lines are drawn. Humans, animals, gods, witches and angels are forced to choose sides for the coming struggle. As battle lines are drawn, we are forced to ask: will war and deception continue to be the norm for humankind? Or will humanity rise above its war-filled past to become more?
Among the members of the large cast of characters, you will meet: Catonius, the elder, a wise black cat that protects his friends while evading the ever-present threat of wild coyotes. Angel, the brilliant German Shepherd, that always seems to have the right answer. Tux the cat, and Wilbur the possum are frenemies that are always getting into trouble. Monk and Bill are two pit bulls that do not seem to be afraid of anything; while George, the old house tabby, seems to be afraid of everything. Beth Davies is a witch that uses a dark, dangerous form of magic. Her spell work gives the citizens of The Township much to worry about. All the while, the mysterious Maggie Fulton works her own form of magic. Always lurking in the background, The Matwau bring chaos and disorder.
