Ray Bluth was a founding member of that team. This is Ray's book written with the assistance of friend and fan, Van Lorenz.Ray Bluth was born in St. Louis on New Year's Eve, 1927. Ray was introduced to bowling as a student at Mallinckrodt Elementary School. One day while playing baseball with classmates, a man in a black Cadillac beckoned the boys. He said a new bowling alley was opening nearby and needed pinboys. Ray was twelve years old when he started working at Stein Brothers Bowl. Soon, Ray decided he liked knocking down pins better than setting them up. After graduating from Saint Louis University High School, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army and continued to bowl. Ray won his first doubles title as a soldier. Upon returning to St. Louis, Ray enrolled at Saint Louis University. He also bowled? a lot! His game improved and it occurred to Ray that he might be able to earn a living rolling a 16-pound black rubber ball. He was right. Ray was on a path to glory that few people will experience.
