More DescriptionIn 1935, while robbing a bank in Denver, Clay Barton shoots a man and takes a young boy hostage. The boy is Will Haskins, and the man Barton kills is his father. The bank robber releases Will three days later and then vanishes, never to be seen again. Will grows up without a father and is forever haunted by the mystery of the bank robber's disappearance.
40 years later, Will Haskins remains obsessed with finding Clay Barton. Now a popular reporter for the Denver Post, he writes a column about his time with the famous bank robber. Days later, a woman calls with news that Barton has lived for years in Gold Hill, an old mining town near Boulder. Braving a fierce snow storm, Will drives into the mountains hoping to find the answers he's sought all these years.
Stranded by the blizzard, Will is taken in by Frank Milstead, Barton's one-time accomplice. At first, Will is certain the man is going to kill him, but over the next two days, Will convinces Milstead to tell the shocking story of what really happened to Clay Barton. Will learns more than he expects, including tales of the two men joining the Dillinger gang to pull off three heists in the Midwest.
As the storm winds down, Will prepares to leave Gold Hill, but the old man has one more story to tell. Is it enough to satisfy Will's longing for answers?
