She manages to find a group of friends, but are they forcing her to be someone she isn't?  At the same time, she grows close to a mentally disabled boy named Joel. She tries to keep Joel secret from her newfound friends who don't understand, but her parallel lives are tearing her apart. The tension grows when Joel starts to have panic attacks and mutters incoherent words for no apparent reason. Savanna suspects something is seriously wrong, but she doesn't know what. She needs to dig through layers of anger, grief, and uncertainty in her own mind before she has any chance of understanding what's happening to Joel.
