Its chronological arrangement allows the reader to follow the development of early Christian thought, whilst its detailed, verse-by-verse exposition does not avoid even the most difficult passages. Nonetheless, it is easily understood by the untrained reader. Although based on modern biblical criticism, it avoids scholarly debate and interprets the text independently of any particular theological viewpoint, providing a clear, unaffiliated understanding of its original meaning.
