More DescriptionSince its publication in early 2008, the Draft of a Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) has triggered an intensive discussion throughout Europe. Even though private law certainly has an impact - both on economic performance and on economic development - an economic analysis of the DCFR is still missing. A workshop was held by the Law and Economics Faculty of the University of Bonn in November 2008 in order to fill this void and stimulate a discussion on the economic implications of the principles and rules enshrined in the DCFR. An essential group of papers presented at the Bonn workshop are collected in this book. These contributions stand out as they add a law and economics perspective to the ongoing debate. The topics range from general issues, like the policies of anti-discrimination or consumer protection, to analyses of specific legal areas, like the law of remedies, the law of service contracts, or the law of torts or delict.
