More DescriptionThis story marks a change in the life of Link Lochlin of the Keystone Ranch. Dream images and waking visions of a secluded, castle-like structure make him restless and anxious to venture in search of it. On this quest, he is met by a mysterious blacksmith who seems to know more about the object of his quest than he does. It all comprises the greatest adventure of Link's life, and not even he can imagine how it will end. James C. Work was born in Colorado where his family had lived for three generations. Western American literature first heard of Work in 1984 when he took on the job of restoring Jack Schaefer's novel "Shane" for the University of Nebraska Press. Since then he has published "Prose and Poetry of the American West" which won the Colorado Seminars in Literature Annual Award. Of the one hundred or so essays he has written, a sampling can be found in "Follow Where the River Begins," which won the Charles Redd Award in Western Studies. He lives in Fort Collins, Colorado.
