More DescriptionThis study will interest principals and administrators in private and public k-12 schools across the globe. Fr. Worku Yohannes Gebre, D.Min., a Capuchin friar and priest, conducts a comprehensive study of Capuchin friars serving as school principals across the many Catholic schools in Ethiopia in 2019 serving tens of thousands of students. The study examines the political, cultural, ethnic, educational, leadership, and religious challenges faced by school principals in Ethiopia.
A cultural context of Ethiopia with a new prime minister is provided. Results from comprehensive qualitative research are provided. Recommendations include, for example, the required knowledge set, the mentoring of new principals, and continuing education for all principals. The study examines Ethiopian families today and schooling related to socio-economic, ethnic/tribal, and gender-equality issues. Finally, this scholarly doctoral thesis also gives readers a glimpse into the private lives and works of Franciscans.
