More Description"The Forging" graphic novel covers the debates, arguments and ideals which played a part in the creation of the Constitution. Whereas "The Constitution" teaches the U.S. Constitution, amendment by amendment, "The Forging" will deal with the history of the process--the debates that took place. "The Forging" is narrated by the famous black preacher Richard Allen who started the first African-American church in Philadelphia in 1787 - the same year and the same city where the Constitution was being created. The timing is amazing. Allen was a born-again Christian and former slave who did circuit riding with the famous Methodist minister Francis Asbury. His story is dramatic and will provide some relief and action in the midst of the Constitutional debates. In these two parallel stories we see the Founding Fathers creating the document that guides our freedoms and on the other hand, we see the story of Richard Allen and the black church in America, which wouldn't reap those freedoms for many years to come.
