More DescriptionJohn McKenzie-Stuart is the illegitimate black son of a member of the Royal Stuart line. He is now close now friends with the children of the family of the widowed Charlotte McKenzie. John now calls himself Maxx. He is a clarinettist at Ronnie Scott's and has fallen in love with Hannah the youngest daughter of the widow of Frank McKenzie. She, however has other ideas and has a disastrous friendship with the graphics designer Bernard who is into drugs. Charlotte is still pining for her dead husband when she gets knocked down by a car in Piccadilly in which Alexander de Graaf is a passenger and who is a distant relative and descendant of Xiu de Graaf. There ensues an uneasy friendship while Hannah descends into the drug world. Maxx finally realises that Hannah is a lost cause for him and that Liana, who has been in love with him forever, is the girl for him. But before he can cement the friendship he gets knocked senseless by some yobs who have it in for black people. He is in a coma in a hospital and nobody knows his whereabouts. By the time it is known, the world has changed.
