More DescriptionThe history of the Basketball since that frozen winter in the Massachusetts to the horrible 2020 year with the lost of Kobe and the advent of Covid. From Springfield, Massachusetts, to Cremona or Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy, there is a distance as the crow flies exceeding 6700 kilometers, very remarkable if we want to cover it in full, like the History of Globasketball, even without deepening that of American professionals. The documentation regarding the history of basketball from the origins of 1891 to the present days is truly huge. Many books, publications, editorials, videos, websites inform us almost instantly about the news we are looking for. On the other hand, a more reasoned and comparable fresco is missing after thirteen decades. Very few know the international history of this fascinating sport and we need a synoptic of the protagonists around the world, from the times that seem prehistoric to our days.Given the immense amount of information, I could haven't afford an annual distinction of the protagonists, so I looked for a reference in the four Olympic years starting from 1891, knowing that the first modern Olympiad dates back to 1896, the first year as demonstration sport is 1904, a demonstration tournament took place in '24, and that the first medals officially awarded were from '36. The Olympics had always been a fatal attraction for the int'l basketball movement, from the first victory of Berlin to the gold of Roma, from the first Yankee defeat of Munich to the unsurpassable Dream Team of Barcelona. At the end we will have an excellent representation of each of the five jubilees that have been celebrated in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
