Unable to work through his despair, he consults a college Philosophy teacher and an Astrophysicist to find if there is any possibility of an afterlife in such a vast universe of such infinite beauty, and learns that science and philosophy do indeed coalesce with theology and ancient traditions that suggest an afterlife.When, during the next Christmas holiday, Ted begins hearing the voice of his deceased dog, trying to communicate with him, and, with the help of a man who has lived his life with dogs and learned their secret language, Ted begins the process of healing that had so long alluded him. By the time Christmas Eve arrives, he has finds he can again recall his family and his dog with a renewed spirit for the future.
