More Description'The Humanist The Cossack And The Siege', is a story of survival, adventure, love and war; an epic where few stand against many. The action takes place in Italian forests, Ukrainian steppes, Turkish villas, the Mediterranean Sea, and the island of Malta. The Humanist: Lorenzo, an Italian from Florence educated in the Classics and lethal in hand to hand combat, has to save his father from prison before he dies. The Cossack: Ekaterina, enslaved by the Ottomans a day after her marriage, she becomes a fierce and independent woman, excellent at fighting with sling and axe. She longs to be reunited with her husband and family. The Siege: The armies of Islam are invincible and advance into Christian territory unchallenged. The Catholic powers meet at a council called the Gran Consiglio and decide to lure the Ottomans into a siege against the Knights of Saint John, who are based in Malta. The intention is to first deplete the forces of the Sultan and then destroy them with a relief force from Sicily. But the Ottomans send their greatest armada to conquer the Christian World. The fate of Lorenzo, Ekaterina and all Europe is at stake.
