More Description
The Nephite design of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple was inspired by a vision. John Fetzer Sr., the architect, affirmed that after praying for guidance, "he saw in vision an ancient Nephite temple, which he had used as a basis for his design."
The temple was a fulfillment of prophesy made by Wilford Woodruff in 1884. While visiting the Saints who were struggling to colonize the windswept desert prairie he said: "Be not discouraged; be not disheartened, because God's blessing is upon this land. As I look into the future of this great valley I can see temples. I can see beautiful temples erected to the name of the Living God where holy labors may be carried on in his name through generations to come."
This book is a brief history with pictures of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. The cornerstone was laid in 1937. It was built during World War II and was dedicated in 1945. It contains excerpts from both of the dedicatory prayers. Information about the construction and design are also included.
