Nia Luna lives in Domus, in one of the last remaining cities sheltering homo sapiens, in the year 2828. Consisting of twelve cities on lands unaffected by the chemicals and genetic modifications that pushed animals to extinction, Domus is the last chance for mankind to escape extinction.Outside of the cities, a new species of human, the homo immundus, threatens homo sapiens and gains a foothold on ruined land. Domus security relies on high walls, city-wide alarms, and climate controlled environments to keep the Immundus at bay. Though every citizen in Domus trains to fight against the immundus, very few have seen them or lived to tell the tale.When Nia is promoted from school to her apprenticeship, she is forced to face the looming threat of the immundus from outside the city and from within. As she sets down a dangerous path that threatens national security, Nia will have to decide what kind of person she wants to be and, ultimately, what kind of world she wants to live in.
