Altemus.Henry Livingston, Jr. was proved to be the poem's true author by Auckland University Professor Emeritus MacDonald Jackson who, over a period of several years, created statistical tests that were able to distinguish the poetry of one man from the other using such unconscious characteristics as phoneme pairs - the sounds at the end of one word and the start of the next. This test tracks where the tongue moves in the mouth while reading the bodies of poetry aloud. Jackson then looked at the classic Christmas poem to see which poet's characteristics showed up. In all the tests, the poet turned out to be Henry Livingston, Jr.
