Synopsis
Ingeborg Bullivant spontaneously signs up for a tour to Lucerne and returns engaged. She feels just as constrained in her new role as the wife of a rural Prussian pastor as she did being the daughter of a bishop. She is tempted to travel once more when the handsome artist Ingram turns around while daydreaming of glorious Italy. Von Arnim's wonderful and amusing work is based on her own first marriage and life in rural Germany around the turn of the century.
