More DescriptionA fantastic, gripping story of self-transformation! One man's lifelong struggle for repentance and redemption for his crimes. A young German SS guard, Peter Otto Fehr, "The Wolf of Auschwitz," committed some of the most horrendous crimes during his tenure at Auschwitz. In January 1945, Peter deserted his duty at Auschwitz, escaped capture by the Allied powers, changed his identity and sailed to America under an assumed name, Israel ben Yisrael. Masquerading as a Jew in New York City and haunted by nightmares of his past, Peter officially converted to Orthodox Judaism in 1949. In 1953, Peter was ordained as an Orthodox Rabbi in 1953. All the while being hunted by the German government, Nazi hunters, and the United States government. Rabbi Israel ben Yisrael evaded capture three different times in 1945, 1963 and 1988. He died in 1999 and he passed on his struggles to his 258 descendants.
The great question remains: Was Peter Fehr's lifelong self-transformation a sincere act of repentance for his past sins, or was it an elaborate masquerade to escape capture and trial for his crimes?
You be the judge!
