More DescriptionRobert William Boyle (January 25, 1627 - December 31, 1691) was an Anglo-Irish natural philosopher, chemist, physicist, and inventor born in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. Boyle is considered the first modern chemist and one of the pioneers of modern experimental scientific method. He is best known for Boyle's law, which describes the inversely proportional relationship between the absolute pressure and volume of a gas at constant temperature.Boyle's most famous book is The Sceptical Chymist: or Chymico-Physical Doubts & Paradoxes, first published in London in 1661. The Sceptical Chymist was written in the form of a dialogue wherein Boyle presents his hypothesis that matter consists of atoms and clusters of atoms in motion and that every phenomenon is the result of collisions of particles in motion.
