Author Biography
MacEwen, Gwendolyn (Author)
Barry Callaghan was born in Toronto in 1937. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto. Callaghan has been a professor at York University since 1966. From 1966 to 1971, he was literary editor of the Toronto Telegram. He was a producer and war correspondent for CBC's Public Affairs from 1968 to 1971 and a commentator on CTV network from 1976 to 1982. Callaghan is also the founder and editor of Exile: A Literary Quarterly and Exile Editions.

Barry Callaghan is the Recipient of the inaugural W.O. Mitchell Literary Prize in 1998. He won the CBC Literary Competition for fiction in 1985, the President's Medal for Excellence in Journalism, from the University of Western Ontario in 1979, and the National Magazine Awards in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1984 and 1985.
