His poetry was born out of the trials and mysteries of fire, with the time served under his Boston fireman¿s helmet. As the poet Seamus Heaney wrote in his poem, ¿Helmet¿ in the book District and Circle, Bobby Breen¿s helmet sat on his shelf for twenty years and as the Poet Desmond O¿Grady referred to it as ¿the head gear of the tribe.¿ From the title of this collection, to the poet¿s references of classical literature and the paintings of the Masters, he voices those present day trials that face our climate, and the uncertainty throughout our global villages.
