This book shines a light on the archetypal social contract that originated in the 1700's to formalise the effective roles and responsibilities of both the sovereign and the people. Today, most democracies have changed the role of the Sovereign from a King/Queen/Head of State and have elected instead a parliamentary body that is now sovereign, supposedly, subject to the people; with a wide ranging mandate, broadly based upon equity, fairness and the rule of law.

The first three decades of the 21st century have already highlighted the division and tribalism that seems to be working its way into our "New Normal". From Churches and Religions to Universities and Schools, many of the prevailing assumptions of our society are being challenged in a way that has not occurred since the enlightenment era of Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson.

This book examines, questions, criticises and reviews many of these new norms. I have not written it seeking agreement nor do I wish in any way to offend. I was born in the 1950's and grew up in a world with real FREE speech; with the ability to debate and discuss without having to worry about mis-gendering, micro aggressions, critical race theory or whether the colour of one's skin makes you more or less entitled to life. We were able to do this because we believed in the right of people to hold contrary views to our own without trying to have them de-platformed, or stripped of their livelihood. I hold that all lives matter and that holding such opinions is consistent with any rational Religious or Humanist view.

It is my hope that this book both entertains and challenges the reader to be open to criticism of some common held views and doctrines; and encourages you, the reader, to think, explore, research and in the end, formulate your own conclusions and dogma.
