During times of open conflict, the stakes are raised. Then the choices are not relegated to civilian life. But, there are also choices pertaining to how one responds to the war outside of them. Every person who has lived during wartime has faced this war within the war. Sam Rogers, a young man living outside of Savannah, Georgia during the Revolutionary War was no different. He was struggling with his place in life. He was a pacifist at heart. But, war literally came to his doorstep at the hands of a rogue British officer. Sam finds his way into a local militia known as Miller's Marauders where he stands on the field of battle with a diverse cast of characters. As a young man, he is trying to find his way in the world not only as a young man, but to also prove himself as a soldier. He finds many challenges and pitfalls along the way.
