Randy researches the case, searching through a plethora of microfiche newspaper reports from years gone by. He uncovers some startling and sordid facts about the case and manages to arrange an interview with the accused widow, now out of prison on bail.The moment Randy sets eyes on Diana Fraser he falls hopelessly in love with her, despite the fact that she is twice his age, wealthy, beautiful and elegant - right out of Randy's class. But Randy is an inveterate dreamer, unable to recognise deceit or harsh reality when it confronts him.In attempting to prove Diana's innocence, Randy unwittingly opens a Pandora's box, revealing some disturbing facts about her late husband.
