"All it takes is one smallvoice to make a difference."When Bug Martin, caretaker of the Children of the Alliance, finally knows the truth regarding her boyfriend Tobias Keogh, and has him back in her life again, she wants nothing more than to keep him there...if only things were that easy. The only assurance that Tobias desires in return is for there to be no more lies between them, and for Bug to make a special effort to stay out of trouble. This, however, proves to be problematic as trouble seems to find her at every turn, especially with the specter of Mathias Martin lurking around South Haven and Rene Billadeau putting pressure on her to attend the Alliance meeting; regardless of the danger it poses to Tobias. While trying to acclimate herself once more into the world of witches and familiars, Bug soon realizes that she has a lot to learn-that first and foremost being the ability to recognize who her true enemies are. When lives are left hanging in the balance and Bug is challenged by a myriad of choices, will she rise up to do what she knows is right?
