One beautiful, hot, summer day, while sifting through rocks on an old mining slag heap looking for fossils, they make a discovery that changes their lives forever. It doesn't take long for their ordinary family routine to become weird, but it quickly becomes even weirder after Wesley, their sixteen year old son, impulsively and without consulting the others, puts a video of their discovery on Facebook. The consequences of which were unpredictable, baffling and . . . well -- full of danger and challenge. The fantastical adventure that develops around the Carters involves them in the incredible world of artificial intelligence and robotics, providing a unique and unexpected introduction to our difficult future when confronted with intelligent robots. Surreal parallel timelines develop. There are two Carter families leading parallel but different lives. One at home behaving normally, while the real family are trying to - - - - - - - - - - - - - save the World? 'Timestones is kind of bizarre, and I like that about it. I suppose you'd categorise it as a sci-fi novel of sorts, though it's equal parts thriller and adventure. The main thing here is the personality, and I can say that in that regard, it's unique. I enjoyed this book immensely.' A.P.
