One of the top international male fashion models in the 1970s, Tom Wilson moved back to his home state of Delaware in 1981 and shifted to a career in art. His photorealistic paintings of southern Delaware often focused on familiar street corners and captured the unique color variations created by the area's intense sunlight. Wilson also painted portraits, sometimes of friends within Rehoboth Beach's burgeoning LGBTQ community. Wilson died due complications of the AIDS virus in 1995.
