More DescriptionTeri announces she's pregnant and Dev's found his first girlfriend. Flynn is trying to repair his relationship with his stepson, but Dev's unwilling to even meet him half-way which has Sophie (and even his new girlfriend, Lindsay) concerned. Lindsay is keeping secrets from Dev and simply being the perfect hacker-girlfriend, but the boys in the band don't like her. Dev doesn't need her to be his actual girlfriend, he's fine with her secrets and tells her so.
Premature labor gives Flynn a son earlier than expected, but he loses Teri in the process. Dev blames him for losing his mother. Still months away from turning eighteen, Dev comes up with a plan to graduate high school early and gets accepted to MIT (meaning he'll move from Seattle to Boston). Flynn sets conditions which Dev is forced to agree to.
Lindsay admits she's a (sixteen-year-old) nymphomaniac when Dev tells her he's leaving and cries she can't cope without him. Dev's ideology is at the opposite end of the spectrum, but he accepts her explanation and develops a plan to keep the relationship going while he's away.
When Dev returns, it's to find his girlfriend-in-name becomes a girlfriend-in-reality. Shocked by her drastic change in appearance and attitude, he accepts and even welcomes the change. Feeling guilt from his deceased mother's stance on abstinence, Dev remains firm on denying the intimacy Lindsay craves.
Time passes as Dev juggles the band and college while he struggles emotionally over what will happen when Lindsay turns eighteen. He wants to marry her, but doesn't feel ready. He knows what she wants, but feels they need to be married first. Memories of Teri weigh heavily on his mind.
Months after her eighteenth birthday, Lindsay is tired of waiting for Dev to resolve his issues. She ambushes him after an interview, handcuffs him to a chair, and - eventually - he understands what she's been telling him for three years. Dev loves her and gives in gracefully and wholeheartedly.
