Jim Boeheim was educated at Syracuse University, where he was a walk-on with the basketball team. In 1976, he became the head coach of Syracuse University and has been coaching the Syracuse Orangemen ever since. He is the second-winningest coach in college basketball history. In 2005, he was elected to the coaches' wing of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Olympic teams that won gold medals in 2008 and 2012. His first book, Bleeding Orange: Fifty Years of Blind Referees, Screaming Fans, Beasts of the East, and Syracuse Basketball, was written with Jack McCallum and published in 2014.
