Unfortunately, much of the religious heritage bearing the name of "Christianity" cannot provide a trustworthy answer to this question. So much of Christendom is not true biblical Christianity but is actually a distortion of the liberating, grace-filled message of Jesus Christ and His apostles. Like the mind-controlling "Newspeak" of the nation of Oceania in George Orwell's classic book, 1984, the "Big Brother" of religion has distorted the true meaning of the central terms of the Christian faith.
