Jane Juska was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 7, 1933. She taught English for more than three decades at Ygnacio Valley High School, Saint Mary's College of California, and San Quentin State Prison. After retiring, she placed a personal ad in the New York Review of Books about wanting a lot of sex before turning 67. The ad was a success, leading to numerous flings with men of all ages. She wrote a memoir about her experiences entitled A Round-Heeled Woman: My Late-Life Adventures in Sex and Romance, which was published in 2003. Her second memoir, Unaccompanied Women, recounted the loneliness in her life before conceiving of the ad. She died after a long illness on October 24, 2017 at the age of 84.
