Regaining a sense of wholeness and peace starts with moving to the seacoast, two hours away from the small New Hampshire town she called home. Her dream of opening an art gallery is complicated by the condition of the house she wants to buy. The location is perfect but it needs to be completely rehabilitated. She sees renovating the house as a parallel to rebuilding her life and throws herself into the project. After realizing living alone is not for her she begins online dating. The process yields mixed results, some humorous until she meets Tim. An avid sailor, he lives an hour away in Maine. Their relationship brings comfort and warmth to her life. Two years into her recovery she is crushed by the death of her son, Richard, from a drug overdose. With Tim's help she soldiers on and sees her son Mike get married giving her a sense of renewal. Sailing adventures with Tim become part of their developing relationship. Once engaged to be married, they plan a boating trip from Maine to Florida. Excitement turns to panic as the day to embark approaches. The North Atlantic is unforgiving when they start their journey.
