It does not limit itself to one method or to a specific denomination. The members of the editorial board are professors in apologetics. Henk Bakker at the Baptist Seminary at VU Amsterdam, Maarten Kater at Theological University Apeldoorn and Wim van Vlastuin at the Hersteld Hervormd Seminary at VU Amsterdam. Contributors come from various denominations, universities and disciplines. In een maatschappij waarin het christelijk geloof steeds minder publieke betekenis krijgt, worden gelovigen gedwongen verantwoording af te leggen van wat ze geloven. Apologetiek zal daarom voor de kerk en de individuele gelovige zelfs nog belangrijker worden dan dogmatiek. Het handboek apologetiek voorziet in een leemte die er op dat terrein is. Verantwoord geloof biedt een staalkaart van wat christelijke apologetiek mag heten. Het beperkt zich niet tot een methode of tot een specifieke christelijke richting.
