More DescriptionVirginia Union University's Department of Languages and Literature's Undergraduate Journal On Research In The Humanities and Beyond is an interdisciplinary refereed journal with an emphasis on research, writing across the curriculum, and writing in the discipline. Select writings are reviewed by a peer reviewed editorial staff, which selects the best critical articles among the genres in writing across the curriculum and in the disciplines written by currently-enrolled undergraduate students at Virginia Union University and other undergraduates from both local, national, and international colleges and universities. Manuscripts are accepted throughout the year but must be received before the May and December publication release dates. Since Virginia Union University's Department of Languages and Literature's Undergraduate Research In The Humanities and Beyond cultivates students' critical thinking, reading, writing, speaking, and research within the humanities and beyond- manuscripts can be in the Modern Language Association standard document style and should not exceed 25 pages in length-not including tables, graphs, figures, and references-and typed double spaced in 12 point font Times New Roman. However, exceptions may be made for stellar quality. Submissions can be submitted for publication consideration to Dr. Monique Leslie Akassi at MLAkassi@vuu.edu as an attachment. Manuscripts should be original and not submitted to other journals. Manuscripts should include a short bio, cover letter, and contact information.
