Author Biography
Marr, David Courtenay (Author)
David Courtenay Marr was a British neuroscientist and physiologist. He was born on January 19, 1945 in Woodford, Essex. He a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge. His education included a BA in mathematics (1966), elected a Research Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge (1968), his doctoral dissertation was submitted in 1969. He was one of the originators of the field of computational neuroscience. In 1977, he was given a faculty appointment in the department of Psychology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1980, he was made a tenured full professor. He died of leukemia on November 17, 1980. His work was collected and published in 1982, Vision: A Computational Investigation into the Human Representation and Processing of Visual Information. It was reissued in 2010 by MIT Press.
