More DescriptionIn the early days of salmon sportfishing some fisherman tried using freshwater bass plugs and found that salmon would readily hit them, but a large salmon would straighten out the light wire hooks or simply pull them out of the plug. Some of these fisherman started experimenting with the bass plugs by adding stronger hooks, and stronger means of attaching them. Based on their success, some even began designing and making plugs for their own use and for sale. A significant plug manufacturing industry rapidly developed around the Northwest. There were some problems with the fishing tackle being used with the new salmon plugs so other fishermen designed new types of tackle including slip sinkers and diving planes. This book takes a look at these new lures and tackle from both a collector's and a historian's viewpoint.
