Our handwriting workbooks have been designed with great care in order to make practicing handwriting Mandarin and English a pleasure for beginners of all ages. In fact, a core value of Little Crab Educational Press is inclusivity, and part of that means we believe parents shouldn't have to be bilingual themselves in order to be able to introduce their children to the "sights and sounds" of Mandarin or English early on and in a convenient and entertaining way. That's why this book contains not only Simplified Chinese characters = 简化字 = Jiǎnhuàzì and English words = 英语单词 = Yīngyǔ dāncí, but also Pinyin = 拼音 = Pīnyīn, which is the official system of transcribing Chinese characters so that Mandarin learners can pronounce them: Pinyin = "to spell sound".
Both native speakers of Mandarin who are learning English and native speakers of English who are learning Mandarin will benefit from this workbook. And, if you flip to the Give Me the Accompanying Audio Tracks for Free! page, you'll learn how you can access the Mandarin and English pronunciation for the words in this book, as well as other bonus tutorial tracks.
Something else to keep in mind: You may discover that different sections of these books may be used by different students for separate reasons, which means these workbooks are shareable! For example, a native-English speaking parent who is learning Mandarin might work on the character handwriting pages and save the English handwriting pages for their child to work on. On the other hand, a child who is a native speaker of Mandarin and who just recently moved to North America from overseas will need to learn English, but many are also likely to continue studying their Mandarin characters as well. Moreover, one doesn't even need to be a serious learner of either language in order to enjoy using this book. Handwriting practice can be relaxing when done in the right setting. This means teens and adults can treat this book as similar to an adult colouring book, a sudoku book, or a volume of crossword puzzles - handwriting with one's favourite pen on paper is a timeless pleasure, and can be done for fun while sitting outside on a beautiful, sunny day, or curled up on the couch with music or a movie playing in the background.
Thank-you and Happy Studying!
